Glens Falls - at 38 Chester Street on Monday, November 5, 2007, Stephen H. Jones, age 24, broke into Mildred R. Clay’s house.  Ms. Clay, age 58, was not home when the break-in occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m.  During the break-in, Jones stole $110.00.  He admitted to police that he had been drinking earlier that day.  He also claimed he needed money to take a bus to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  On Tuesday, November 6, 2007, police apprehended Jones in Philadelphia.  He said he went there because he had family members living there.

During the break-in, nobody was harmed.  There were no witnesses, either.  Jones broke a front window to get into Ms. Clay’s house where police found fingerprints that they used to track him down.  Jones’s criminal record revealed Jones has been arrested on similar charges. Jones was charged with first-degree burglary.  He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.  If found guilty, Jones may face two years in prison.
