                                                       The Break In

Dalton Visscher

GLENS FALLS- There was a break in at 38 Chester St. on Monday, Nov. 5, in Glens Falls. Mildred R. Clay returned to her home at 2:00pm to discover she had been robbed of $110.00. She called police who determined the burglar had entered through the window at 12:15 pm.

Although there were no witnesses, the police found finger prints on the window. They matched up the prints to Stephen M. Jones from a previous arrest. Police apprehended Jones on a bus going to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He had used the money stolen to purchase a bus ticket to visit his family.

Jones later confessed to the burglary. He also confessed he had been intoxicated at the time of the crime. Clay did not file any charges. Jones could still go to jail for the alleged burglary for 2 or more years by order of the state.

                                  Coyotes

                    By: Dalton Visscher

The coyote is a beautiful animal. The coyote is mostly found in heavy forests. Most food on the coyotes diet is deer, and rabbits. Some times in the summer the coyote eats beavers. But most of the coyote’s diet is deer.

What the coyote looks like is there tail is bushy, it has long slender legs, it is medium size, and it has a pointed muzzle. The coyote can be a big problem to farmers in the Adirondacks. So a lot of them shoot them. They shoot them because they eat there chickens and there other animals. A lot of hunter shoots them to so they can mount them.

A lot of people don’t know there are coyotes around here so they get scared when they see them. The coyote is part of the dog family. The coyote communicates with chemical, visual, vocal, and tactile signals. Vocalizations include the growl, bark-howl, whine and yelp. Group howls and yip howls advertise territories and reunite pairs or family groups.

The coyote population is getting smaller. To stop the population from decreasing the state can stop making coyotes legal to hunt. Hopefully the population will go up in the past year. As you can see the coyote is a very fascinating animal.
