Railroad
by the Lazy Side Inn
Do you know about railroads
and how they take you places? Do you
also know about
Well Mr. Durant was born rich;
money in piles like hay in bales, you see, his family invested their money in
the railroad business and got double the money back. Well, when William’s
parents died he got the inheritance and spent it on these HUGE, monstrous
cabins. He built the camps called Pine
Knot, Uncas, and Sagamore. Well, his workers were lazy, and I mean
REEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLYYYY lazy. They were so lazy Durant had to build a train so
they wouldn’t have to walk to the bathroom. He also had 2 motels with workers
just as lazy. But he didn’t have money to waste so they didn’t get out of bed
to go to the bathroom (they peed in their beds) but the watcher of the laundromat (of the hotel) was just as lazy. So the jest of the story is; don’t stay at
those motels, the beds may be damp.
Railroad by the Lazy Side Inn (this is
our song)
The life and times of William
West Durant
CHORUS
Money meant nothing to me
It was all about the beauty
Fame and glory were of the
past
The mountains were where I
found me
VERSES
So I headed my train to the
north
Next stop,
(Toot! Toot! )
To build my house upon the
shores
But tents were where I set my
stakes
The winter chill was bitter
cold
The tent was in a frozen style
So I sent my train Jamaican
bound
To fetch a sunny day for
awhile
Repeat CHORUS
Once my house was fully built
The children’s beds were wet
I asked them what the problem
was
The bathroom was too far to
get
So I built for them their
very own track
A train from bath to bed
They rode it to the lavatory
To avoid the work they dread
CHORUS
I finished my life with out a
dime
A nickel was all I had
My sister took it all away
This made me really sad
