The Hadley-Luzerne Central School District is deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Hunter Scofield.  Hunter is mourned by parents William and Linda Scofield of Lake Luzerne as well as brother, William and extended family.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Hunter’s family and to all of those impacted by Hunter’s passing. Hunter was an exceptional member of our school community and his loss is deeply felt.

Hunter, a rising junior, at Hadley-Luzerne High School, had already begun to make his mark on the school community. A member of the National Honor Society, the soccer and basketball teams, Hunter was also expected to be among the first Hadley-Luzerne students to compete on the WarEagle (Lake George/Hadley-Luzerne) Football team this fall.  Hunter was highly regarded by faculty, staff and students as a student with a bright mind, interminable kindness for others and unlimited potential. He will be missed.

The sudden passing of a student shakes the school community to its core. Counselors and support staff will be available at the high school from 8:30 am-12:30 PM on 7-7-14 through 7-11-14 to support students who wish to come together and express their grief at the loss of their classmate. Arrangements to honor Hunter’s life are incomplete at the time of this release; however, as they are developed, will be shared.

We thank the broader community for its many expressions of sympathy and offers of assistance and ask that Hunter and his family be kept in their thoughts and prayers in the difficult time ahead.
