Congratulations to the following Stuart M. Townsend Middle School students inducted into the 2014 National Junior Honor Society on Tuesday, May 13th.  Qualifications of inductees include “Five Foundations” which are Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Character and Citizenship.  This year’s inductees are:

The current members and new inductees ended the ceremony with a beautiful candle light recessional out of the LGI.  Cake and punch were enjoyed following the ceremony as friends, families and faculty enjoyed celebrating the successes of our future leaders.  Thanks to all who attended.



The Class of 2016 is hosting a Kindle Fire Auction to benefit Harley and Autumn Burns, who recently suffered the tragic loss of their mother.  Suggested donations are 1 chance for $5 and 3 chances for $10.  Anyone interested, please contact Anne Mclean at 696-2112 at the High School office By May 30th.



On May 30th there will be a comedy show in the high school auditorium, hosted by the class of 2017.  Come witness students, friends and neighbors hypnotized right before your eyes.  This is a show you don’t want to miss. Check out this guy is hilarious!  Be sure to get your ticket from any freshman or in the high school office for a suggested donation of $6.



The Board of Education of the Hadley Luzerne Central School District declares that the insects in and surrounding the Hadley Luzerne playing fields present a problem that cannot be eradicated by the use of green products, and in particular green insecticides;

WHEREAS, pursuant to Education Law 409-k, the Hadley Luzerne Central School District Board of Education is entitled to declare an emergency situation, whereby the use of pesticides to eliminate unsafe insects is necessary to ensure the safety of students on District property; and

IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, that an emergency situation exists on the Hadley Luzerne playing fields warranting the application of pesticide control and specifically grub control, to manage and eradicate harmful stinging and biting insects, spiders, bees, wasps, hornets and any other insects that may potentially harm the students during the use of these playing fields and to ensure the safety and integrity of the playing fields on approximately July 5, 2014.



The Hadley-Luzerne Central School District is accepting applications for a full time 12 month School Business Official/Deputy Treasurer  to start on or before July 1, 2014. Appointment will be pending Warren County NY Civil Service qualification as School Business Manager, or NYS Certified School Business Leader with BA in Accounting, Business, or Business Management, business office experience preferred, competence in municipal accounting, business experience with school districts preferred,  understanding of NYS regulations for finance, state aid and budget preparation, tax collection, experience managing business operations including payroll and purchasing, management experience in food service, transportation, buildings and grounds, and technology, knowledge of risk management, investments, all areas of insurance, employee benefits and civil service procedures.  Submit letter of interest, resume, professional /OLAS application, copy of certification, copy of transcripts and three letters of recommendation by June 13, 2014 to Paul Berry, Superintendent of Schools, Hadley-Luzerne Central School District, P.O.
