FRENCH CLASSES VISIT THE WORLD’S SECOND LARGEST FRENCH SPEAKING CITY!

During the month of May, the French classes in the Middle School and the High School visited Montréal–the world’s second largest French speaking city.  Both groups went on different days but followed the same itinerary.  The main purpose of the trip, according to their French teacher, Mrs. Maryann Seeley, was to immerse the students in a multi-cultural event–they began by visiting the top of Mont Royal, where there was a breath-taking view of the city from the Belvedere castle.  Their lunch was spent walking through a European outdoor fruit/vegetable market, called the Marché Jean Talon.  Once they arrived in the Old City, they visited the Basilique Notre Dame, modeled after the one in Paris.  The highlight of the trip was the performance of the Cirque du Soleil.  It was a new show, called Amaluna, which dazzled and amazed the audience.  The acrobatic performances of the Cirque du Soliel have been raised to the level of the performing arts.  It was amazing to see the show under the same Big Top Tent where the Cirque began 28 years ago. Before returning home, the groups dined in a restaurant in Old Montreal.  C’est Magnifique!!
