Hadley-Luzerne High School Class of 2012

Top Ten Graduates

Valedictorian

Megan Weis, the daughter of David and Rebecca Weis of Hadley, has been named the Valedictorian of the Class of 2012. Beyond her distinguished academic career, Megan is a talented musician who has played an integral role in our school band and choral programs. Her key accomplishments include representing Hadley-Luzerne at NYSSMA and All County vocal competitions as well as private piano recitals. Perhaps the highlight of her high school musical career, Megan’s performance as Sister Margaretta in our school musical, The Sound of Music, was a true showcase for her many talents.  A member of both the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society, Megan was awarded the University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award for her efforts. Megan is most interested in English and the social sciences and, ultimately, hopes to practice law and work as an investigative journalist. Megan will begin her college career at SUNY Adirondack where she will major in liberal arts.

Salutatorian

Scott M. Combs, the Salutatorian of the Class of 2012, is the son of Ronald and Debbie Combs of Lake Luzerne.  Scott is an exceptional student, athlete, and citizen who serves as an outstanding role model for all students.  Recipient of the Rensselaer Medal from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Science Award, Scott has been recognized locally as President of the National Honor Society and a member of the Spanish Honor Society. He is an active volunteer in the community helping with blood drives and fund raisers for needy children and cancer research.  A three sport varsity athlete throughout high school, Scott is a natural leader who, as a captain on his baseball team, will likely break the school pitching record for wins and strikeouts this year.  Combining a highly competitive nature with compassion and warmth, Scott is a gracious young man who is held in high esteem by peers and faculty alike.  Scott, whose long term goal is to become an architect, will attend Hudson Valley Community College where he will major in engineering.
