EXTENDED SCHOOL DAY

The Hadley-Luzerne Extended School Day (ESD) Program is

entering the second year of an exciting grant opportunity.  Last year we were fortunate to receive a yearly grant opportunity that will offer after-school, weekend, and summer programs to Stuart M. Townsend Middle School Students in grades 3-8 for the next two years.  This is a wonderful gift to our students, families, and community that will permit our school to offer academic support, enrichment, recreation and 21st Century Technology opportunities to all participating children, under the direction of ESD Program Director, James Kneeshaw. In addition to academic support, enrichment, recreation and technology, students enrolled will experience Five-Week Themed Seminars that include; Internet Media, Comic Life, Google Earth, Whyville, Broadway in Luzerne, Sprouts & Seedlings, Roving Reporters and many others.  This program also includes Really Awesome Family Trips (RAFT), monthly field trips that are offered to our students and their families.  This Extended Day Grant encompasses many programs from our surrounding areas.  We have the Hadley-Luzerne Public Library working with students on Video Blogging and DVD Production.  Cornell Cooperative Extension will be working with our students on Outdoor Adventure Programs and Master Gardener Series.  On September 19th we started this exciting and enriching program that will run Monday-Friday from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

BOOSTER CLUB

Under the direction of Booster Club President, Patti Cook the HL Booster Club has been working very hard supporting all the athletes at the Hadley-Luzerne Central School.  Members play a vital role in fund-raising efforts and in determining how these funds are spent through a voting process.  Anyone interested in participating in the Booster Club may email hlbc@hlcs.org.
