CAPITAL PROJECT

On September 20, 2011, the Hadley-Luzerne School District is asking voters to approve several items from our 5-year capital plan. We are proposing this project at this time for several reasons.

• The items included are important infrastructure improvements needed to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of our students and staff, and maintain our facilities.

• The project is timed to smooth the taxpayer burden by replacing debt service payments from a 1994 capital project.

• The economy makes this an excellent time to undertake a capital project, as companies are looking for work and will be very competitive in their bids, and interest rates are extremely low, further reducing overall costs.

• Including the savings from the Energy Performance Contract will further reduce taxpayer burden.

Detailed descriptions of project items can be found on the Hadley-Luzerne website at www.hlcs.org.  There was a PUBLIC HEARING on September 12th on this proposal. We encourage all residents who will not be available on voting day, to vote via absentee ballot. Applications for absentee ballots for voting on this proposition may be obtained at the Office of the District Clerk. Completed applications for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter. Qualified Voters are only allowed to vote in one school district.  For further clarification of voter registration or absentee ballots, please call the District Clerk at 696-2378 x108.   We are very grateful for your continued support and hope the information in the newsletter will prove helpful as you consider whether to approve this capital project request:
