Welcome back!  The Hadley Luzerne Extended School Day (ESD) program, under the direction of Mr. James Kneeshaw, is entering its sixth year of an exciting grant opportunity.  We have been fortunate to receive a yearly grant opportunity that will offer after school and weekend enrichment opportunities to Stuart M. Townsend Elementary School students in grades 2-6 and the 7th grade students in our Junior/Senior High School. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students, families, and community that will permit our school to offer academic support, enrichment, recreation and 21st Century Technology opportunities to all participating children. All students, grades 2-7, are eligible for this program.   Along with academic support, enrichment, recreation and technology, your child/children will also be enrolled in 5-Week Themed Seminars that will include; Fitness and Nutrition to include use of a FitBit fitness tracker, a humanities project where students will build and perform on their own African drums. An English Language Arts unit where students will be rewriting their favorite “once upon a time” and creating weekly projects that will showcase their writing skills.  A new exciting interactive weather station will be the centerpiece of our Science program.  This program also includes Really Awesome Family Trips (RAFT), monthly weekend field trips that are offered to our students and their families. This Extended Day Grant encompasses many programs from our surrounding areas.  We have the Hadley-Luzerne Public Library working with students on 21st Century learning skills.  Cornell Cooperative Extension will be working with our students on Outdoor Adventure Programs.

Please fill out the registration forms to indicate if your child/children are interested in enrolling in this program.  Please return it to their homeroom teacher or the office by Wednesday, September 16th.  Open house night will also provide a chance for you to visit with Mr. Kneeshaw and talk in-depth about our program. We are looking forward to the start of this exciting and enriching program.  The program will be running Monday – Friday from 2:25 pm to 4:30 pm at the Stuart M. Townsend Elementary School. We have a start date for daily programming of September 21st.
