We are all very excited about the upcoming school year at Hadley-Luzerne.  The transition into ninth grade will be a great opportunity for each student.  In order to ease the anxiety of the surroundings for incoming freshmen; Junior-Senior High School Principal, Mr. Burgess Ovitt and faculty have coordinated a "NEW BEGINNINGS DAY" on Thursday, August 24th, at 6:00 p.m.  All entering ninth grade students and their parents are invited to attend this very important orientation.  It is important that everyone will get to know each other and develop a feeling that school will be a place where we have high expectations for academic success and people who care!  A tour of the building will be optional and free and reduced lunch applications will be available.  We have received many favorable responses regarding this important evening.  The teamwork among parents, guardians, teachers and administrators, will provide an environment with high expectations for all of our students.  All ninth grade students and their parents/guardians are encouraged to join us on Thursday, August 24th, at 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium!

Do you have a child at home who will be four years old on or before December 1, 2016?  Do you know someone in the district who does?  If so, your child may be eligible to participate in the Hadley-Luzerne Central School District’s Pre-Kindergarten Program for the 2016-2017 school year.  Our Pre-K program is designed to operate for 2 ½ hours per day and follows the school calendar.  One session will be held each day (8:15-10:45 am).  A second session will be added from 12:00-2:30 pm if the need arises.  Class placements will be based on a lottery – drawing. A highly qualified teacher and certified teaching assistant will conduct the classes.  Please note transportation is not provided.  Parents/Guardians are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children.  If you are interested please register your child at the Elementary School Officer between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:30 PM in the coming days. The following is a checklist of documentation needed to help you enter your child into the UPK program:  Registration Form, Physical Form, Birth Certificate and Proof of residency.  Please note your child must be toilet trained.  For an information/form pack please contact the Elementary School at 696-2378 ext. 101.

The Hadley-Luzerne Central School District will continue to participate in the federal free and reduced price meal program for all students in grades PK-12.  All households will receive an important informational letter and application for free and/or reduced meals.  Please return one application per household to any of the main building offices, cafeteria or mail to Cynthia Woodcock, Deputy Treasurer, HLCS Lunch Program, P.O. Box 200, Lake Luzerne, NY, 12846.  Households with incomes the same or below the amount listed on the chart in the information pack for their family size, may be eligible for and are urged to apply for free or reduced price meals.  Additional copies are available at the main office in each school.  Applications may be submitted any time during the school year. We welcome our new Food Service Director, Megan Beck.
