History
The
New York State Education Department requires each school district to establish
a mentor program for all new teachers.
The current Mentor Teacher Intern Program at Hadley Luzerne
Central School
was established collaboratively by the members of the Hadley Luzerne Teachers
Association and the Board of Education during the 2003-2004 school year. The program
started operation in the fall of 2004 with fourteen mentor intern teams. The program matches a beginning teacher with
an experienced teacher. The pair then
works collaboratively throughout the year sharing ideas and strategies. Each
teacher reflects on the educational practices being used in the classroom. A mentor and an intern learn from each other
and grow professionally in the process.
