Why is a beginning
teacher like a kaleidoscope?
“Looking through a
kaleidoscope is like seeing multiple images, thrilling but wildly unfamiliar, through
a fly’s compound eyes. A beginning
teacher is bombarded with a multiplicity of images and experiences which at
first do not coalesce. It is the mission
of the mentor to help the beginning teacher make sense of and grow into this
complex vision.”
