Spelling

The Third Grade spelling lists are a component of the MacMillan/McGraw-Hill reading series.

Each week there are 15 spelling words based on a spelling pattern (example; long i). There are also 5 bonus words. These 20 words are selected from your student’s weekly reading selection.

The children’s spelling skills will improve as they read, write, and experiment with words. Research has shown that children must try different spellings before they become competent spellers.
