Universal PreKindergarten Lottery Now Open

Hadley-Luzerne Central School District is pleased to offer a full-day Universal PreKindergarten (UPK) for our youngest learners who will be 4-years old by December 1, 2026. HLCS will offer one full-day UPK class with a total number of 18 seats.
A lottery system will be used to select students for the UPK program in the event that the number of students exceeds the number of seats.
Please complete and submit this form to enter your child in the UPK Lottery. Lottery entries will be accepted beginning Monday, February 2, 2026, and the first round will close at the end of business on Monday, March 2, 2026.
The initial lottery drawing will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Selected families will be notified by email by March 6, 2026, at which time UPK registration will open on FamilyID. Selected families must complete the enrollment process on FamilyID by March 20, 2026. If selected students are not enrolled by March 20, that spot will become available.
Families of students who are not selected will be notified by email, and subsequent lotteries will be held as needed if there are spaces available.
Children who will be 4-years old by December 1, 2026 are eligible for UPK. A child who is age-eligible to attend kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year is not eligible for UPK.
The UPK program is free for families. Funding is provided through a grant from the New York State Education Department.
Please view our UPK webpage for more information. If you have further questions about our UPK program please contact Stuart M. Townsend Elementary School Principal Jon Baker at 518-696-2378 x1101.
